Electrical Selections

Tuesday 9th April 2019

This was our third and final Selections appointment.

Doing the electricals was a good experience it really makes you think about the flow of the house. Where are you going to enter a room and want to turn on alight? are there multiple points in which you want to turn off a light? it was a nice way to start getting a feel for the house.

We wanted the house to be done when moving in, we didn't want to have the build completed and then still have major work to do, so we decided to go ahead and get all the downlights we wanted so we didn't need to worry about electricians down the line.
In the Ensuit, We added quad heat lamps with fully ducted extractor, prewire for 2 heated towel rails (we didn't fall for any of the ones Mcdonald |Jones had to offer and with the pre-wire, it really is a quick fix after hand over)
In the main living/dining area, we did not want lights in the middle of the coffer so we added extra around the bulkhead and also opted for a dimmer switch. We followed the same principle in the theater room and master bedroom (minus the dimmer in the master suite).
In the Kitchen, we added power points everywhere we wanted them as adding power points to tile after hand over would be a pain, and we recessed the power points for the fridge and wine fridge. we added under cabinet lighting either side of the cooker and internal lighting to the 2 glass-fronted cupboards. The pendant lights we had our eyes on McDonald Jones couldn't offer so we prewired for them, another quick easy fix.
In the spare Rooms, we just kept it simple 2 downlights, 2 powerpoint either side of the headboard and one at the opposite wall.  We did take the advice of the consultant and opted to not put a powerpoint on a what that has one in the same place on the opposite side as there is no point in paying twice for one set of wires as you can easily punch through the wall and add your own powerpoint to the same wiring.
In the main bathroom, we added another quad heat lamp with fully ducted extractor as they are one of our favorite discoveries since moving to Australia haha.
Outside in the alfresco, we added two prewires to add fans or heaters down the line, this is something we will do down the line once we have a better feel for the house but thought it best to preempt and put the wires in place

And with all that here are our final electrical plans:
